Rising with the tide

The architects Herzog & de Meuron have designed a wonderful concert hall for the Hafen City quarter of Hamburg. Past meets present here, with an old cocoa warehouse providing the foundation, whilst the Plaza offers a surround view. The glittering glass structure, which will have a final height of 110 metres, appears as a symphony of life to the onlooker. Space for 2,150 visitors at a height of 50 metres, a hotel and a restaurant, 1,100 glass elements, contoured, arranged and curved. These include 3D elements from Sturm. It is planned to open the complex in 2017.
